Living With Persistent Pain
Compassionate, hands-on bodywork that supports you alongside your medical care — not in place of it.

Chronic pain is exhausting in a way that’s hard to put into words. It follows you into your sleep, your work, and the small daily things that used to feel ordinary. If you’ve been living with persistent pain for months or years, you’ve likely tried a lot — and you may be tired of being told to simply push through it. At The Body Clinic in Ogden, we meet you where you are, without judgment, and we listen first.
This isn’t a single treatment with a tidy promise. Persistent pain is layered — old injuries, muscle guarding, stress, posture, and the nervous system itself can all play a part. Our role is to work patiently with the soft tissue and help your body feel safer, looser, and more at ease over time. Many clients in the Weber and Davis County area find that thoughtful, regular bodywork becomes a steady, supportive part of how they manage daily life.
We see massage as one piece of a bigger picture, never a replacement for your doctor, physical therapist, or specialist. We work in support of — not in place of — your medical providers, and we’ll always encourage you to keep them in the loop. Our aim is simple: to give you skilled, compassionate hands and a calm space, and to adjust everything we do to your body, your history, and your goals.
Your first visit starts with a real conversation. We’ll ask about your pain history, what makes it better or worse, any diagnoses or treatments you’re already working with, and what a good day versus a hard day looks like for you. Nothing about your session is one-size-fits-all — the more we understand, the more carefully we can tailor the work. If anything about your situation calls for it, we may suggest checking in with your physician before we begin.
The hands-on work itself is gradual and collaborative. We tend to start gently and build only as your body welcomes it, watching how your tissue and nervous system respond rather than forcing change. You’re in control the entire time — your feedback on pressure, pacing, and comfort shapes every minute. Depending on what your body needs, we may draw on techniques like the Berry Method or deep tissue, and we’ll explain our reasoning as we go.
Relief with chronic pain is usually built over time, not in a single visit. We think in terms of a plan across several sessions, noticing what helps and adjusting from there. Some people come weekly during a rough stretch and then space visits out; others settle into a steady rhythm of maintenance. We’ll talk openly about pacing so the work fits your life, your body, and your budget.
Many people living with chronic pain find that regular massage helps them manage muscle tension, feel more at ease, and move a little more comfortably through their day. We can’t promise to cure or fix the underlying condition, and we won’t pretend to — but massage can be a supportive part of a broader plan you build alongside your medical providers. We’d always encourage you to keep your physician involved.
Sometimes there’s mild tenderness for a day or two afterward, the way you might feel after gentle exercise, and it typically settles on its own. Because persistent pain can make the body more sensitive, we start conservatively and build only as you’re comfortable. Your feedback guides the pressure throughout, and if something doesn’t feel right, we’ll ease off right away.
That depends on your body, your history, and how you respond — there’s no single right answer. For some people, the focused, layer-by-layer work of the Berry Method fits well; for others, broader deep tissue or a gentler therapeutic approach is a better starting point. We’ll talk it through at your first visit and adjust over time. You’re welcome to explore our Berry Method and deep tissue pages to get a feel for each.
The simplest first step is to book a session or contact us with a little about what you’re experiencing. There’s no specific “chronic pain” service to choose — we’ll help match you to the right kind of bodywork once we understand your situation. If you’re local to Ogden, Taylor, Layton, or anywhere in the Weber and Davis County area, we’d be glad to talk through whether we’re a good fit before you commit.
Reserve your session online, or reach out and we’ll help you choose.
